Team Prep is the premier New England prep school team soccer and sports camp. Held during the last weeks of August in at Camp Cedar in Casco, Maine the camp provides boys and girls teams the opportunity to prepare for the highly competitive fall season.
The Team Prep Camp originated in 1997 when several New England Prep School teachers and soccer coaches decided to pull their teams together in late August for pre-season training. The soccer camp was started by Dick Muther (currently AD at St. Paul's School), Mike Schafer (Currently Head of School at The Newman School), and Ron McEachen (then Men's Soccer Coach, Skidmore College). In 1999 Bill Scott (then Boy’s Soccer Coach at Phillips Andover) replaced Ron as one of three directors and in 2009 Mike Borislow (then coach at Govenor's and immediate past Executive Director of Massachusetts Youth Soccer) replaced Mike Schafer. The soccer camps slowly morphed into what they are today after carefully listening to coaches who continue coming back year after year. Team Prep has adjusted the camp program to suit coach’s desires as long as the suggestions were consistent with the Team Prep mission. Unlike most of the camps that the kids attend in the summer, the mission of Team Prep has always been "in tune" with the missions of attending prep schools. Team Prep has been careful to focus on the team over any individual. Team Prep is team driven. The camp model not only helps create winning teams, but also helps them foster winning student citizens. This builds team camaraderie, communication, sense of community and develops leadership skills for team captain.
The days are long, yet diverse. Every day includes various levels of skills building, team tactics, speed and agility training, small games and full length scrimmages. Every evening includes fun team activities where all players are involved. The training sessions are conducted by top quality and experienced clinicians, coaches, athletic trainers, sports consultants and team building experts.
Sports have always helped to develop future leaders. Team Prep Camp not only helps players and teams gear up to have winning seasons today; the camp also creates winning citizens for tomorrow.
